Hafod Country House

Hafod Country House Those who have never visited the Island of Anglesey, or 'Ynys Mon' as it is known in Welsh, have a treat in store. Connected to the mainland of Wales via the two famous bridges over the scenic Menai Straits, it is an unspoilt island bordered by sandy beaches, rocky coves and towering cliffs. Rich in history, the largely agricultural landscape features some splendid standing stones, medieval churches, Celtic settlements and quaint fishing villages, one of which is Cemaes Bay.

Hafod is situated on the outskirts of the picturesque fishing village of Cemaes Bay on the north west corner of the Island of Anglesey, in a rural setting, yet within easy walking distance of the village and sandy beach. Set in an acre of secluded gardens with superb sea and mountain views, Hafod is a spacious Edwardian house with comfortable bedrooms, a large elegant drawing room with books to browse, and a dining room with separate tables.

Hafod Country House We are renowned for our scrumptious breakfast, as we use local produce, including free range eggs, and home made preserves, served in a separate dining room.

Close to Hafod, you will find safe swimming, sailing, sea fishing in the Bay, and spectacular country and headland walks.

Our own garden has a wildlife pond and is a haven for many varieties of wild birds.

Within five miles, we have the only working windmill in Wales, bird sanctuary famous for its Terns, fly fishing, an interesting 18 hole golf course (lessons can be arranged) and a leisure centre. A little further afield we can arrange horse riding and day trips to Dublin.

How to Find Us

Take the A5 over the Menai Straits bridge. Then the A5025 signed Amlwch. Go through Amlwch, then Bull Bay, Cemaes Bay is the next village. By pass the village, at the roundabout take the first exit signed Llanfechell. We are approximately ½ mile up this road on the left, opposite the renovated windmill.
